Worm drives

The Liebherr range of rotary actuators includes devices with diameters from 223 to 725 mm with a torque of up to 250,000 Nm and a maximum tipping moment of 1,100 kNm. The company produces rotary drives with one- or two-way augers, as well as augers with two support bearings, which provide self-braking of the drive depending on the level of efficiency. For other configurations, an adapted brake can also be ordered.

Description

For all its compactness, worm drives have a fairly high power density. Through worm gearing, the torque without play is transmitted to the slewing bearing. This design is excellent for transmitting high power values in confined spaces and is used, for example, in the control systems of the running gear of truck cranes and heavy trucks, as well as in loading cranes and agricultural machinery.
